Editorial: "Vive le cinéma" by film critic Lalit Rao

We are living in a modern world where the art of cinema is influencing human beings more than ever. This is perhaps one of the reasons why we are being constantly forced to ask ourselves : does cinema imitate life or does life imitate cinema ? It appears to us as if the poetry of moving images is turning out to be more real than what all of us had imagined. All this is happening at a time when almost all the possible means of communication are at our disposal. This is one of the reasons why the art of cinema has not remained a mute spectator to all the changes which have taken place in our midst. If a traditional art like poetry is slowly disappearing then the art of cinema is also not safe from the onslaught of free movie download, internet, piracy and video on demand. The need of the hour is to safeguard the noble art of cinema. It is like a moral obligation to preserve something sacred.
This can only be done by all of us as we are the ones who know for

sure that whatever one might say, one might feel the best way to
watch a film is on big screen. So let us make a pledge that we will
do whatever we can to promote the growth of cinema as it is
undoubtedly one of the best forms of poetry of human emotions. Vive
le cinema !
